East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Strong winds along the upper Texas coast slowed fishing in East Galveston Bay.  N-NE winds 20-30 mph hit the coast Friday afternoon which dropped tides below normal and turned the water off color and rough.  Mid-afternoon winds would lay some but it was still blowing.  We fished the north shoreline finding some trout and reds but only fair fishing with no tide movement and very low water.  There were a lot of bait fish up close to the bank.  Back on the south side along the intercoastal, flounder fishing is picking up fast with the passing of every cool front.  When good tides return and water levels return to normal, bird working along the shoreline int he back of the bay will heat up quickly and bay reefs will also get going again as winds return to S-SE and lay.  Bait of choice this week was live shrimp under a popping cork about 3 feet deep.  Until next week, see you on the water.
