It's May. We got to roam around on some of the bay reefs in East Galveston Bay a few days this last week using live croaker - just free-lining them across the shell. We caught a handful of big trout trout in the 5 to 7 lb range that were released and a few good eaters. The croaker bite is right on track and getting better every day and just in time for the STAR Tournament. It's a just a matter of a week or two and the bay reefs will bust wide open. Why? Because the North Shoreline area is where the shrimpers are catching most of the croaker and shrimp in East Bay so the fish will be close. Live shrimp is available on the Bolivar Peninsula but call first. Just a friendly reminder - please be courteous to other boaters and waders. And one last thing - don't forget to enter the CCA STAR Tournament. All it takes is one cast! We still have some days in May and June is filling up fast.
Until next week, see you on the water. Capt Ronnie
