East Galveston Bay Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Good morning tides had fish a lot more active along shorelines and bay reefs.  The early high tides allowed us to fish up in the marsh drains and salt grass along the south shoreline where we found good numbers of trout and reds.  Most of the trout are running about 15-17 inches and the reds about 20-22 inches.  There is a lot of bait fish and shrimp staging at the opening and fish are there also.  We used live shrimp under a popping cork about 2 feet deep.  Wind was out of the E-SE and the bay is in great shape.  For three days we hit the bay reefs and had good numbers of nice 3-5 lb trout and some 24-40 inch reds using live croaker.  We just put a couple of beads and a #4 wide gap hook (no weights) and slowly moves them across the little rises on the reefs.  In the back of the bay, there have been a lot of birds working schools of trout but they are just keeper size.  Until next week, see you on the water.
