East Galveston Bay Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Great morning high tides made for some good fishing when the wind laid down from the passing front.  Water in East Bay is still holding good in most areas and the fishing is just getting better as the water cools down.  Shorelines are holding great numbers of slot reds - 21 to 27 inches - and some nice trout mixed in also.  We used live shrimp under a popping cork about 2 feet deep right up on the salt grass edge.  There are a lot of bull reds along the rockwall in the front of the bay.  Fort Travis is the hot spot for large sand trout as well as bull reds.  The bird action is going hot and heavy from Deep Reef to Frozen Point and should just get better as the water cools.  We worked big groups of birds on Saturday evening and had fair numbers of keeper trout.  The big trout are still hitting live croaker on the bay reefs when the wind will let you get out there.  Until next week, see you on the water.
