Seems like I always have to start every fishing report talking about the nagging north winds and heavy rain during the front half of the week. This week was no different. Colder mornings in the mid 50's slowed fishing but better tides in the afternoons got fishing back on track along the shorelines of East Bay. Had some good trips on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday boxing nice reds, flounder, and trout. Live shrimp under a popping cork about 2 feet deep fished tight against the salt grass and muddy shell from Siever's Cut to Marsh Point is what worked the best for us but also had reports of artificial working well and even a few good reports when live croaker was used. On Friday afternoon, we boxed nice reds in the 25-27 inch range and flounder in the 18-20 inch range. We brought in a nice box of trout and 4 reds in the 22-25 inch range on Saturday morning. On Sunday, it was foggy with little or no wind. We went out and fished Lower Hannah's and picked up a handful of nice trout. Then we moved over to the shoreline and fish were going really good. Finished up the morning with limits of trout and 2 nice reds by about 11:00 am. We left them biting. If the wind will stay down, look for fishing to bust wide open on bay reefs and shorelines. Live bait is available at local bait camps on Bolivar Peninsula - shrimp, croaker, and mullet. Hope everyone had a Happy Easter! Until next week, see you on the water.
