East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Well, same story in East Galveston Bay for the first part of the week - strong winds, strong winds, and more strong winds kept most anglers off the water early in the week.  Water conditions were poor but slowly recovered by mid-week.  Thursday morning was our first day to fish and with north winds blowing, we ran across to the north shoreline of East Bay.  We fished around Richard's Reef and Whitehead Reef and had some nice keeper trout in the 2-3 lb. range.  We also had lots of undersized throwbacks mixed in. Bait of choice is still live shrimp fished under a popping cork about 3 feet deep.  Good fishing lasted about 2 hours before the wind turned east about 15-20 mph.  Friday's wind was back to the north and we fished the same areas along the north shoreline and had some keepers but most were undersized.  Wind stayed down most of the morning,  On the way back, we stopped at Big Hannah's and picked up a few more keepers.  Ended the day with a nice box of trout.  Then Saturday, we woke up to 25-30 mph east-southeasterly winds. We fished the south shoreline and marsh drains and did catch a handful of nice trout.  The biggest was about 5 lbs.  Sunday there was no way to fish - winds about 30-35 mph east-southeast and rain.  Til next week, see you on the water.
