Bolivar Peninsula, East Galveston Bay Fishing Report

Well this week;s fishing report is going to be short.  There were flooding rains and strong winds from Houston to Bolivar and the high tides made it worse.  I couldn't even get to my boat for 3 days because my dock was under 2 feet of water!  But, when the water went down and the weather improved, we were able to make it out Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning.  To my surprise, the water in East Bay was in great shape and fishing on all bay reefs was excellent.  On Friday and Saturday, the wind was down and we have good tides in the mornings and afternoons.  We had good numbers of trout to 5 lbs on live shrimp under a popping cork but most were running in the 17-20 inch range.  The tide on Sunday did not move too much so our fishing slowed for us.  We ended up boxing only 10 trout but those fish were nice - in the 3-4 lb range.  We caught those trout on live croaker.  The trout fishing should only get better in the weeks to follow - if the weather stabilizes.  Hope for better weather.  Until next week, see you on the water.
