We had a great week of fishing around the bay system. Bay wells along the ship channel are going hot and heavy. Trout in the 5 to 6 lb range are coming in and a lot in the 2 to 3 lb range. Depending on the tide speed, just put weight to hold the croaker down near shell bottoms around well pads. Fishing in Lower Galveston Bay is going good also. Sand Island and the channel side of Pelican Island are holding good numbers of just keeper trout - fishing live shrimp under a popping cork about 2 ft deep. Last Friday I just took some time and rode around the bay system. Finally, our water is getting salty. Bait fish are showing up in areas where it was dead with no activity. The Trinity River is back in its banks and is greening up. That is very important to our bay system. East Bay reefs are in good shape and holding good numbers of trout. Both croaker and live shrimp are paying off - with croakers catching a better quality of fish. Wind was out of the south-southeast most of the week at about 10-15 mph in the mornings and fishing is going good. Until next week, see you on the water.
