East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

This week's fishing report was cut short with strong west winds and heavy rain Friday-Monday.  Earlier in the week we had only fair numbers of trout and reds.  West winds had open bay reefs rough and off-color.  Open water fishing on reefs will rebound quickly as the weather improves.  We had fair fishing along shorelines with live shrimp in marsh drains hiding from the wind.  Most of the trout are just keeper size (16-18 inches) with an occasional red or two.  The rocks along the Bolivar shoreline in late afternoons are holding good numbers of trout and reds at breaks in the rocks.  Live bait on Bolivar Peninsula is very scarce.  Make sure you call before you make that drive.  Our live croaker are still running very small but should be getting better shortly.  Until next week, see you on the water.
