East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Last week's fishing was a little slow in the mornings with high tides before daylight.  We managed, on average, about 10-15 keeper trout per trip but most were caught in the late morning.  Live shrimp along protected shorelines and rock groins in East Bay produced fair numbers, but not great.  Same areas are holding nice reds in the 21-25 inch range.  There are a lot of small trout mixed with the keepers just about every cast.  Open bay reefs are holding nicer trout when the wind would let us get out there.  Live croaker are working the best but live shrimp are working also about 3 feet under a popping cork.  Shorelines are starting to have birds working but some of the fish under the birds are still gafftop.  We did work a few sets that had some trout mixed in.  This action should heat up soon.  Until next week, see you on the water.
