East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

What a week of fishing!  Light winds, light crowds, and good morning tides made for some great fishing in East Galveston Bay. Most all of the bay reefs are holding good numbers of trout.  We fished the north shoreline reefs and found excellent numbers of nice trout (18 to 20 inches) with a few in the 5 to 8 lb range.  Richard's Reef, Whitehead Reef, and Deep Reed are good places to start. We are still using live croaker and just free-lining them.  There are some birds working in the some areas but the fish are running smaller (14-17 inches).  If conditions hold up, fishing should be great all week and will just get better as the water begins to cool off. Live shrimp is working also but not as consistently as the croaker.  That will be changing in a few weeks. Also, check out the pictures from last week's fish on Facebook (Crystal Beach Fishing).  Until next week, see you on the water.
