East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Storms along the upper Texas coast kept water choppy and kept most coastal anglers close to protected shorelines out of the wind. A lot of small trout in the 15-17 inch range have been showing up with a few nice ones in the 20-23 inch range.  Fall fishing should be heating up with the passage of the fronts predicted for the week.  On the other hand, the redfish bite is good along the shorelines and marsh drains on outgoing tides in East Bay.  Most are making the 20+ inch mark.  We are fishing with live shrimp under a popping cork about 2 feet deep.  Open bay reefs are holding good numbers of solid trout when you can get out there.  Just look for slicks and pods of mullet.  Crowds are light on the bay and live shrimp is available at most camps on the Bolivar Peninsula.  Until next week, see you on the water.
