Water conditions in the bay are good but N-NE winds were up to 15 and 20 mph on some days. We fished the marsh and protected spots along the shorelines. Fish are moving a lot. One day we would do well and then the next day in the same spot and the same conditions, the fish had moved. We used live shrimp under a popping cork about 3 ft down. The skip jacks are bad along the shorelines so we used a small bb weight and put it above the shrimp about 4 inches. Since most of the skip jacks tend to stay up on top of the water, the bb weight fixed the problem. The rocks along the Bolivar shorelines are holding good numbers of reds and trout but you just have to pick through the small trout. The reefs in East Bay are holding big bull reds and good numbers of nice trout when the wind will let you get out there. We used both live croaker an live shrimp on the reefs. Small trout in the open bay areas are starting to push the shrimp up to the top so look for birds working. This should get better as fall comes on. Until next week, see you on the water.
