East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Last week fishing picked up along the upper Texas coast.  Lighter winds and stronger tides gave us the opportunity to hit the bay reefs along the south shoreline of East Bay along the Bolivar Peninsula.  We found good numbers of nice trout in the 16-20 inch range along with some good slot reds in the 21 to 24 inch range.  The water is in great shape and the temperature is running about 64 to 65 degrees and getting closer to that magic 70 degree mark.  We are fishing with live shrimp under a popping cork about 5 feet deep.  So just check the water depth and come up about a foot off the shell.  There are some small trout and drum mixed in but a lot of action overall.  Good schools of little mullet are showing up also.  Spring Break will be here soon and it's a good time to take a kid fishing.  Until next week, see you on the water.
