East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Fishing for the Spring Breakers has been good.  We are catching great numbers of reds along the shorelines on shell and openings to marsh drains.  The bait of choice has been live shrimp under a popping cork about 2 ft. deep.  When we can get out on the bay reefs, we are finding good numbers of nice trout (15 to 20 inches) along with some nice keeper reds also using live shrimp under a popping cork about 4 ft. deep.  The water temp is holding in the mid 60's with the passing of the last cool front. With warmer weather forecasted, fishing should just get better.  Tides are running a little low but should go to more normal levels when the SE winds return.  Live bait is available along Bolivar Peninsula but, as always, calling first is a good idea.  Until next week, see you on the water.
