East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Last week's fishing was really good in East Galveston Bay.  We had good numbers of trout, red,s and flounder.  Wind was up a few days but the south shoreline and marsh are holding nice trout and flounder.  The trout are running about 16-23 inches and flounder have been up to 24 inches with a red or two mixed in.  We are fishing live shrimp about 2 feet deep under a popping cork close to the salt grass and cuts on mixed shell and mud.  When the wind laid, the bay reefs (deep Reef, etc) were holding great numbers of bigger trout in the 18-25 inch range using live shrimp about 4 feet deep under a popping cork.  Some reds are also on the reefs along with some big black drum.  Water is in great shape and the fishing is heating up fast.  The water temp is running about 66-67 degrees.  The bank fishing bit is getting good around Rollover Pass for reds and black drum.  Look for fishing to get even better with good weather predicted this week,  Until next week, see you on the water.
