East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Strong winds and rain put fishing on hold along the upper Texas coast for most of last week.  Early in the week, 20-25 mph S-SE winds kept most of the bay off color and rough.  But, fair numbers of small trout in the 15-17 inch range with the occasional nice red mixed in came from the shoreline from Siever's Cut to Fat Rat Pass around marsh drains and cuts.  The water temp is holding around 64-65 degrees and should come up when the weather clears out.  Fishing should rebound fast when tides return to normal from the north wind.  Fishing around Rollover Pass has been good for bank fishermen looking for reds and black drum.  This action should just get better in the weeks to come.  Live bait (shrimp and mullet) is available on the peninsula but it's still a good idea to call first to be sure.  Until next week, see you on the water.
