East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

The shoreline along the north side of East Galveston Bay is red hot!  We are catching some great boxes of big trout.  Last week was our first trip using live croaker and the large trout did not disappoint.  We released 5 fish that were about 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 lbs. with some good numbers in the 3-5 lb. range.  We are just free lining the croaker and dragging them on a slow drift.  There are still some good numbers of trout being boxed using live shrimp also.  But just keepers in the 15 1/2-17 inch range.  If the weather and tides hold good, look for fishing to just get better in the weeks to come.  There is still some bird action along the shorelines and reefs. The bank fishing around Rollover Pass is really picking up also - with good numbers of slot reds along with a few trout and flounder. There is live bait on the peninsula but, as always, call first.  Until next week, see you on the water.
