East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

It's that time of year where we get two days of strong winds and two days of calm winds.  So on the strong wind days, we have been hitting the shorelines where we are finding great numbers of reds in the 21-24 inch range along with some trout mixed in.  We are still using live shrimp under a popping cork a foot or two off the salt grass around marsh drains and shell.  On the calm days, the mid bay reefs in East Galveston Bay are on fire!  We had good numbers of big trout on live croaker or live shrimp.  We are looking for big schools of mullet and slicks popping.  We were able to fish on Sunday morning before the big rains and caught limits of trout on Morning Glory tails.  When the wind lays again, look for fishing to rebound fast.  With the long weekend approaching,  please remember to be courteous on the water and be safe.  Until next week, see you on the water.
