East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Winds along the upper Texas coast have finally settled down some after a week of strong SW winds 15-25 mph and 4-5 inches of rain on Bolivar Peninsula to Galveston.  Fishing has only be fair with very little tide movement in the mornings.  We managed to catch 6-16 nice trout along with a red or two on each trip but had to work hard at it.  We are fishing with live croaker on the bay reefs of East Galveston Bay when the weather allows us to.  The south shoreline is also holding good numbers of trout but there are a lot that are undersized.  So you just have to pick through them.  Look for fishing to pick right back up fast with better weather forcasted in the weeks to come.  The bank bite around the Rollover Pass area has been good for reds and black drum along with a few nice trout. For the wader, work the sides of the pass.  Live bait is available all along Bolivar Peninsula but call first.  PS - if you are going fishing, please enter the CCA Star Tournament.  You just never know.  Until next week, see you on the water.
