East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Strong W-SW winds 15-20 mph slowed fishing on most bay reefs.  We had to travel to the west shoreline since it's protected by the Texas City Dike and that's where we found some fair to good numbers of keeper trout with a red or two mixed in.  When the wind goes back to the S-SE, look for bay reefs in East Galveston Bay to turn on fast.  We are still using live croaker but live shrimp along protected shorelines are paying off for some nice trout and reds.  Areas around Rollover Pass have slowed as fresh water leaves the bay from last week's big rain - about 7 inches on Bolivar Peninsula.  The bank bite is fair for waders around Fort Travis and the Bolivar Pocket.  Bait is hard to find on the peninsula because of the fresh water but numbers should get better fast.  Until next week, see you on the water.
