Light winds got fishing back on track last week. Good numbers of trout are being caught on the deeper reefs in the bay system. We are fishing with live croaker on drop-ops and muddy shell in about 8-10 feet of water. Tides were a little slow in the mornings but fish bit was ok. Large schools of red fish were spotted along the beach front chasing bait. The water in East Bay is holding in good shape and big schools of mullet are on the bay reefs. Just look for slicks and bit and the fish won't be far. Areas around Fort Travis is also holding good numbers of keeper trout with a red or two. In the weeks to come, look for more bull reds entering the bay system. They are fun to catch but be gentle with them and release them to catch another day. As far as live bait on the peninsula - no live croaker but most have live shrimp available but it's always a good idea to call first. Until next week, see in the water.
