East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Fishing last week was about as good as it gets!  We had great numbers of big trout showing up on wells and bay reefs about 8-10 feet deep.  We are still using live croaker dragging them behind the boat about 35 to 30 yards.  Just look for nervous bait fish and slicks on the edge of the reefs where it drops to the mud bottom.  Live shrimp have also been working well but the trout are a little smaller - 16 to 18 inch range.  The trout caught on croaker are running 18 to 25 inches along with some big ones in the 25 to 28 inch range but we released those.  If the rain showers will leave us alone and the wind stays down, look for the fishing to stay red hot.  The bank fishing along the surf and the Rollover Pass area has also been good as the big bull reds show up.  We are catching some bulls in the bay also.  Live bait is available on Bolivar Peninsula but live shrimp is hard to find.  Until next week, see you on the water.
