East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Fishing in the bay is getting better and better with each tide from the recent storm run-off.  We fished last Saturday and the water was still a little bit off color but the fish were eating good.  The trick is when you pull up to the bay reefs, it looks like there are no bait fish on it but they are.  They are just not on top like we are used to seeing.  With all of the fresh water, they are about 1 foot deep.  So run your trolling motor across the reef and you can see them run.  We used live croaker dragging them behind the boat about 35 to 40 yards slow on the bottom.  Just be patient.  We had good numbers of trout and limits of reds in the 24-27 inch range.  There were also a few sets of birds in the back of the bay but trout were small.  Rollover Pass is good for reds and the waders are catching a few flounder.  Until next week, see you on the water.
