East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

After a very rainy September, East Galveston Bay is finally getting clear as good tides move the fresh water out into the Gulf. The bird action is going hot and heavy throughout the bay. We are picking up fair numbers of keeper trout but have to cull through the small ones. As we head into the middle of October, the fishing should just get better. The red fish action is going great along protected shorelines along the salt grass and marsh drains. We are using live shrimp under a popping cork about 2 ft deep. With the passing of our first cool front, flounder action should heat up fast. Bait is still available on Bolivar Peninsula but call first.

Until next week, see you on the water. Capt Ronnie Scheck
