East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Well, not much to report in East Galveston Bay. With cold fronts every few days, the weather along the upper Texas coast has been awful. I did get out mid-day last Friday. The water condition was good but the water temperature is still in the mid 50's so the fish are still sluggish but I did manage to pick up 8 nice keeper trout on bay reefs along the south shoreline. I was throwing Morning Glory colored shrimp tails. There are a lot of small shrimp along the pilings in front of my house - about 1/2 inch in length. When they get a little bigger, they will head out of the canals and marsh drains and on to the shorelines and bay reefs. So we just need some warmer weather and some time for the shrimp to mature. It won't be long and the fish will bust wide open. Until next week, see you on the water.
