East Galveston Bay, Bolivar Peninsula Fishing Report

Well, Spring Break is finally here and the fishing is going good. Low morning tides slowed fishing some but by mid-morning they were eating and the afternoons were great. We had a lot of action and boxed a lot of slot reds (21-25in) along with some big bulls for a picture or two. The trout action was fair along the shorelines right before dark (1 hr. or so). We fished marsh drains and small shell reefs along the south shoreline using live shrimp under a popping cork about 2ft deep. The bay reefs are holding good clear water and some nice trout but just a little rough with the high winds. The outlook for the next week for the Spring Breakers looks great for hitting the bay and should have a lot of action with the reds and trout. There are a lot of big black drum and sheephead biting also. Live bait is available on Bolivar Peninsula so book your trip and get in on the action. Y'all will love it! Until next week, see you on the water.
